Updated: Lention customer service 'Sophy' has reached out to me with a replacement of the same model after my review. So far, I have not had anymore problems with the replacement overheating. So my 2 stars is now 4 stars. From what I understand, some models may be faulty, but Lention has very good customer service if you have any concerns with your product. Thanks Lention!
Read many reviews before purchasing, and after using this for a couple of days, I am not satisfied with the construction of this product. I've tested it out, and this gets incredibly HOT. Using just the SD slot, the product is already overheating! This is concerning when having multiple items plugged in. Overall, I don't think this is good quality for $25. For an item 'Made in China', Lention, you can do better than this.
I would like to hear what the seller, Lention, has to say. After purchasing a 2017 Macbook Pro I was worried I was going to have trouble adjusting to life with only USB -C ports. Disappointed as I bought this to charge my MacBook at the same time as plugging in as card adapter and importing photos. Unfortunately if you plug in MacBook charger to the dongle it does not pass through the power to the MacBook. The USB ports work fine but don’t allow charging. UPDATE 9th June 2018 Seller contacted me and asked for a video showing the issue and offering to replace product if it was fault.
I tried the product again and it appears to work. It most certainly did not last time. Therefore I am adding three stars to my review for the responsiveness of the seller and the fact the product is passing through power to my laptop at the moment. Will continue to use and see how it goes. Not sure why it did not work before but appears to work fine now. If you have a newer Mac this is the one dongle to rule them all. My office bought a number of other dongles and I ordered this cause at a conference about five other folks whipped them out and gushed over them.
